For years, there was a little-known trick to access your notes and highlights — you could visit a page on the Kindle website and scroll through them there. This is useful, because many ebook apps block you from using copy and paste — or you might be reading the book on a tablet but writing on your laptop. Unfortunately, the Kindle app does not let you search within your highlights and annotations, or indeed for text fragments across multiple books. But notes are obviously written words you want to read.
To access your notes, you can tap the number on the highlighted text. This displays the Note window. Or simply tap the X on the top right to close it. Select Notes the setting name may vary depending on your version. You can then scroll through all notes and highlights for the book. For highlights, you can Delete or Share them and for notes, you can Edit which also lets you Delete if you like.
The Kindle Fire will show your notes directly in the menu, but other models will show the option "View Notes and Marks. To delete your notes, select them either by pressing Edit on your selected note in the Notes section of the Go To menu, or by tapping the numbered icon in your text and selecting Edit. To delete highlighted passages, you can select the highlighted passage in the text and press Delete , or you can delete it in the Notes section of the Go To menu.
